Potentially Ambiguous Terms
The following terms are potentially ambiguous as used on this Wiki and are clarified here.
Cookie☆/Cookie☆ OG
The name "Cookie☆" technically refers to the original voice drama Marisa and Alice's Cookie Kiss. However, it has since been used to describe the entire online meme and subculture derived from the voice drama. On this wiki, the use of "Cookie☆" or "Cookie" should refer to the broader subculture, while the specific voice drama is usually referred to as "Cookie☆ OG" or "original Cookie☆".
Inmu/Manatsu no Yo no Inmu
While, similar to Cookie☆, the term "Inmu" is originally the abbreviation of the single porn video Babylon 34 Manatsu no Yo no Inmu, the use of the term almost always refer to the greater meme subculture derived from the original video and other associated gay porns. When there is need of referring to the single video specifically, include "Babylon 34" to help distinguish the terms.
MAD/Derived Creation/Fanwork
See below for the definition of MAD. Since the term is frequently used in the pages of the Japanese Cookie Wiki, the corresponding translated articles on this wiki will sometimes bring the uses over. The use of "MAD" can usually be interchangeable with "derived creation" or "fanwork", but the latter two works include more general formats, such as illustrations and other medium that do not use the video format.
Cookie Fandom/Cookie Community/Cookie Subculture
While all three terms refer to similar things, the former two focus more on the people involved in following and creating contents for the Cookie☆ meme, while Cookie subculture may also include the contents made.

Roughly translates to "topic" or "material". Shortened version of
Aniki/Aneki

Terms from Inmu
TDN Naming
The abbreviation naming scheme for most Inmu characters, that was also adopted for Cookie☆ characters. Basically almost all Cookie☆ characters follow this naming convention, but also append Aneki (

The name has fully been converted to TDN Naming.
Turning the Tide(一転攻势)
Or "suddenly changing directions".
A term referring to ending up in an advantageous position from a prior disadvantageous position. Used to refer to the part in Midsummer Night's Lewd Dream Chapter 1 where the 3 sports club members (TDN, HTN, DB) successfully gang up on Tanioka, reverse the situation on him, and rape him at gunpoint, and the name of the term originates from a copypasta detailing said situation. In Cookie☆, Turning the Tide refers to the point in Cookie☆ otoMADs where the sound source and samples suddenly swap to Inmu, usually with Udzuki reciting her "Van Houten" line beforehand.
Rumour Damage(风评被害)
The fan-association of the content or actions of an Inmu porno with an unrelated franchise, concept, person, or piece of media, and the memes and jokes that ensue from the aforementioned association. The name is due to the implied reputational damage something would take due to the association with hopelessly dirty homosexual pornographic flicks and the influx of Homos. Sometimes actual reputational damage may happen to something due to Homos, as was the case with the Bleach mangaka Kubo Tite, who was associated with infamous gay actor KBTIT/Takuya so much, the mangaka's publishing company sent a public message imploring Homos to stop and the gay actor apologized for the association in an interview.
Rumour damage is also used within the Cookie☆ community, both to refer to fan-associating Cookie☆ with other things or the reputational danger that comes with being involved with Cookie☆.
Homo
Can refer to either a fan or member of the Inmu subculture, or an actor from the Inmu pornos. Most of the time, when it's used to refer to the fans, the Homo moniker is not indicative of a fan's actual sexual orientation. Homo is also used to refer to a fan of Cookie☆.
Nonke
Means "heterosexual male". Originally used as an inoffensive term by the actual Japanese gay community to refer to straight males, the term nonke has been co-opted by Homos and became a catch-all insult, most especially to disparage people who cannot handle the bizarre and sexually deviant nature of Inmu content.
Shimokitazawa
A real-life location in Tokyo. Most importantly for Inmu, it is the location of the headquarter of COAT Corporation, the company that produced the OG Inmu and other canon gay porns. Thus, many BB theatres use either the real Shimokitazawa or a fictional region that bears its name as their setting. The infamous Yajuu Mansion is located in 3-23-14 Kitazawa, Setagaya ward, Tokyo..
Unprecedented [__] Boom
空前の○○ブーム
A term first used in Inmu as "unprecedented Majime boom", describing the sudden rise of popularity of the previously sidelined character Majime-kun. It has since be applied in Inmu and Cookie to describe the sudden rise in popularity and amount of creations, usually following some leading creators, of previously ignored or uninteresting characters. The first example in Cookie seems to be Hisui.
Voice Dramas
Bouyomi(棒読み)
Term for speaking or acting in a monotonous tone, like reading straight from the script without inflection, nuance, or emotion. Due to the poor quality and voice directing of most Cookie☆ voice dramas, voice lines that match the description of "bouyomi" are very frequent, and most other voice dramas also feature cases of "bouyomi" which may or may not be done intentionally.
Clout-farming/Farmed Dramas
Clout-farming is a derogatory term for actions seen as only being done to selfishly gather and amass popularity and clout within the Cookie☆ community, most particularly referring to voice dramas, voice actresses, or voice drama producers who only want the fame associated with Cookie☆. Farmed dramas are a term referring to voice dramas whose sole purpose is clout-farming, or are seen by the community as only being created to farm clout.
Original Work of the Original Work
Term for the Touhou Project franchise itself. Derived from the fact that the voice dramas are "original works" spun off from the "original work" of Touhou Project. This term is used to refer to Touhou Project and ZUN whenever they are mentioned in the credits for series and MADs.
Derivative Works
MAD
A modern Japanese term referring to parodic or remixed audio and video clips created by secondary content creators, and an essential part of Japanese Internet culture due to Nico Nico Douga and other such video-sharing communities. Comparable to the Western "Youtube Poops". The term MAD originates from an early example of MAD culture, a cassette tape titled "Kichigai Tape" or "Tape of Madness".
The Cookie☆ and the Inmu communities are built on MADs, remixing and reinterpreting clips and segments from the original voice dramas or pornos and creating a wholly unique original story or content out of the clips.
otoMAD/YTPMV
Type of video focused on remixing audio samples from a certain source and sequencing the samples to fit the rhythm and tone of another song. YTPMVS (Youtube Poop Music Videos) are the Western equivalent and sort of a progenitor to otoMADs. otoMADs are popular in Inmu and Cookie☆ due to the many sound samples and sources the pornos and voice dramas provide, leading to a prolific otoMAD community.
BB/GB Materials
A type of video that showcases a particular animation, picture, or action set against a plain colour background. Blue backgrounds(BB) and green backgrounds(GB) are the most common, though other colours are also available. "BB material" usually serves as an endonym of such materials of any background colour. The background is meant to be chroma-keyed out in video-editing software so that the animation provided can be cut out and pasted onto another video. BB materials may either be ripped straight from the voice dramas, or feature a custom, edited, or original animation. These materials provide the building blocks of BB Theatres and otoMADs.
BB Theatre
A type of MAD video popular in Cookie and Inmu where BB materials are combined and utilized, alongside other materials, to create a video with a plot and story. As with the case of BB materials, the name "BB theatre" is an endonym that covers any colour used in its materials. BB theatres provide the characterization or popularize many different characters, and are one of the main video contents of Cookie☆, the other being otoMADs. BB theatres come in many different genres, and may either be one-shots or full series.
Nigun(二軍)
Translates to "Tier 2" or "Second Army". Refers to minor, unpopular, or rarely-used Cookie☆ and Inmu characters. This tag is applied to works that also spotlight minor voice dramas that are not well known, or works that were once well known but have entered obscurity. The degree of unpopularity or obscurity needed for a character to be classified as "nigun" varies - characters such as Joker or Ryuuga who were not well known at first but became prevalent ironically due to their own unpopularity, and characters from incredibly obscure voice dramas who barely see appearances at all, have all been classified as "nigun".
Cookie Community
Niconico Douga
A Japanese website for sharing videos and arts, distinguished by its on-time comment function that displays the comments as the videos are playing. Niconico hosts the internet subcultures of Reinoare(see below) and MAD-making, and thus played an important role in the births and growths of Inmu and Cookie.
All Niconico videos contain their specific "sm numbers"—an id number placed after the website(such as https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm38767928) to access the video. In this wiki, Niconico videos are sometimes only shown with their sm numbers.
Bilibili
A Chinese website that started with a similar role as Niconico. While the website had grown in size and became more mainstream, it is still used as a major platform for Chinese Inmu-Cookie communities, although the latter often struggle with the website's censorship regime.
Bilibili has a "BV number" that functions similarly to Niconico's sm number, and the videos' identification on this wiki is similar.
Hon-thread
The main Cookie☆ thread on Japanese anonymous imageboards, especially 5ch's Cookie☆ thread. Responsible for many events and controversies in Cookie☆ history to the point of infamy, such as the discovery of Taisa's voice drama trilogy, the uncovering of Udzuki's real life image, and planning the voice drama Kurapi☆.
Inmufag/Cookiefag
Term for Cookie☆ or Inmu fans in Western circles, derived from the 4chan lingo of referring to a fan of a particular franchise or media as (name of franchise)fag. (Touhoufags, Fatefags. etc.)
That-thing/Reinoare(例のアレ)
That-thing is a catch-all tag referring to various Nico Nico Douga subcultures, such as Cookie☆, Inmu, Gachimuchi, Soka Gakkai, Syamu_Game, and other subculture tags. Originally, the tag was used by Nico Nico management as a containment tag for Gachimuchi and Airmoto videos, and as a tag for odd inexplicable content, or have nuances that risk deletion, but eventually grew to encompass MAD culture in general, and people had no problem using the tag for Inmu videos.
